The RDC of Kiboga district, Mr. Namanya Jeremy has tipped LC3 chairpersons in the district on effective service delivery as a tool for effective mobilization. This was at a special meeting chaired by Mr. Namanya at the RDCs office in kiboga district.
” Everytime you attend to the people’s needs, you build confidence and trust in them to support continuity of government. Effective mobilization is not just about shouting Nrm oyee…but show the people why they should support the government and what government has done for them. If health facilities are functional and staff are well supervised, children are going to school, the people are engaged in production, roads are worked on, there is no reason why people wouldnt support the government.”
“When the people feel that their voices are heard and their needs are being met, they are more likely to engage and participate actively in the development of their communities”
“I urge each and every one of you to take a proactive approach in identifying and addressing the pressing issues faced by your constituents. Replicate the Presidents message on wealth creation wherever you go. People who are engaged in wealth creation can never participate in subversive activities becase they are busy working.”
The meeting was also attended by the DPC and his team together with the DISO. The DPC in his remarks emphasized strict adherence to the 48 hour rule for suspects in police custody and encouraged the team to continue to be vigilant and hold police accountable in case of breach.
” I want to emphasize that the police is not above the law. Any violations or deviations from the 48 hour rule will be addressed swiftly because this is a fundermental principle in our criminal justice system which is meant to ensure that the rights and welfare of both the citizens and the accused are protected in accordance with the law.”
The DISO cautioned the team against allocating members of the community land in wetlands. It is shameful that a section of some of us are participating in allocating members of the community land in wetlands for cultivation. This is wrong and if found culpable, you will be held accountable.
The chairpersons thanked the RDC for initiating the meeting and pledged to work with the office in addressing service delivery gaps in their areas of jurisdiction.
” This meeting is the first of its kind, we had never been called for a meeting like this. we didn’t even know that these offices think about people like us…now that you have summoned us, we are going to see to it that we work together to address the gaps”.
However, we face challenges when it comes to monitoring some government programs as we are not availed with the necessary documents to monitor existing works.
RDC Namanya called upon them to foster a cordial working relationship and mutual respect with the SASs office if they are to effectively monitor the programs.
“You are the political head, and the SAS is technical. If there is mutual respect and a cordial working relationship, there is no reason why they’d deny you BOQs.”
The Chairmen were also tasked to hold and submit security reports every month without fail.
