The Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba assured the people of Greater Masaka of his commitment to work with them in developing Uganda.
The commitment of General Muhoozi Kainerugaba , to collaborate with the people of Greater Masaka in advancing Uganda’s development was reiterated at the Greater Masaka Baraza organized by PLU.
Held at the Masaka Liberation Square in Masaka City on Friday, March 15, the event that saw Gen. Kainerugaba express gratitude for the support towards PLU, emphasizing its role as a platform for the people’s voices.
“We shall build Uganda together. I want to thank the organizing committee that organized this event. Thanks a lot,” said Gen. Kainerugaba.
During the Baraza, Gen. Kainerugaba elucidated the mission and vision of PLU, defining it as a civic organization aimed at mobilizing Ugandans to fulfill their civic duties, including fostering love for their country, promoting good citizenship, and safeguarding Uganda from external interference.
He highlighted PLU’s commitment to assisting vulnerable members of society, combating resource wastage, and tackling corruption.Asserting PLU’s non-partisan, non-denominational, and non-sectarian stance, Gen. Kainerugaba emphasized inclusivity, stating, “We have people from every tribe, race, religion, and political party. We don’t care about your political party; we just care whether you love Uganda or not… Are you ready to sacrifice for Uganda? That’s all we want.”
Addressing the issue of corruption, Gen. Kainerugaba stressed its detrimental impact on Uganda’s development, urging all Ugandans to join the fight against it. He emphasized the importance of accountability in public office.
“Public offices belong to the country,” said Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. “Anyone in public office is working for you. Don’t elect corrupt people.”
Furthermore, Gen. Kainerugaba disclosed the government’s plan to acquire 10 million doses of vaccines to immunize animals against foot and mouth disease, with the aim of lifting the existing quarantine, which has been a significant concern for cattle farmers.
Regarding youth development, Gen. Kainerugaba praised the creativity of Ugandans and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting young people through initiatives such as the Microfinance Support Centre (MSC) and Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), providing necessary assistance, mentoring, and equipment.
Highlighting PLU’s support for the entertainment industry, Gen. Kainerugaba emphasized its ongoing role in promoting cultural and artistic endeavors.
“PLU has always been a great supporter of the entertainment industry,” he said.
On his way to Masaka City, Gen. Kainerugaba made a stopover in Lukaya where he pledged Shs4 million to each group of people involved in activities like trade, fishing and craftwork among others. He also received various gifts, including goats and matooke from residents, some of whom joined his convoy to Masaka.
Gen Muhoozi is becoming becoming a big man
