As we report, Ntungamo District Woman MP Joselyn Bata Kamateneti is reportedly anxious ahead of the 2026 general elections. This concern stems from rumors that First Daughter Ms. Diana Museveni Kyaremera is considering running for the Ntungamo District Woman MP seat.

An anonymous source close to the legislator mentioned that Kamateneti is in a tough position, serving her first term in Parliament. They noted that while Kamateneti is unhappy with the news, she is investigating the situation within the First family.

If the rumors are confirmed, she may have to either leave elective politics or run for Kajara County, where her husband is from, in 2026.

This publication also learned that Kamateneti had previously enjoyed support from the First family since her election as Ntungamo District Woman MP. However, the First Lady did not attend her belated Women’s Day celebrations, sending Alice Kaboyo, the State Minister for Luwero Triangle, instead.

In the past two years, Mrs. Museveni would spend at least two days in Ntungamo before celebrating Women’s Day with the locals. Yet, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, her absence surprised many, as the event attracted several women MPs from the 11th Parliament.

Information suggests that the First Lady’s presence had reassured Kamateneti, who believed 2026 would be an easy win, but circumstances now appear to have shifted.

Since January, Kamateneti has been in the district working on her political relationships, now taking calls she once ignored.

“In fact, she was recently seen having lunch with students at a school in Rushenyi,” a source revealed.

Another source informed us that the President is scheduled to visit the district on April 4th to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of Bwogyera Girls Secondary School, and this publication will be there to gather more information.

In related news, Kyaremera recently announced her separation from her husband and businessman Geoffrey Kamuntu.Political observers suggest this move could aid her political ambitions, potentially securing sympathy votes. Ntungamo, her ancestral home, may be her best opportunity for a successful political career.
