Fortunately, a Colonel has been promoted to the position of Brigadier General, four Acting Colonels have been moved to the rank of Colonels, and numerous promotions have occurred, resulting in 210 Lieutenants advancing to the rank of Captains.

Brig. Gen. The UPDF, tracing its historical roots back to the formation of the Uganda Army in 1962, has undergone significant evolution over the decades. Initially established as a 700-strong force, it expanded to 1,500 by 1963 and, in response to various national crises, underwent further expansion and restructuring.

The Army’s integral role in Uganda’s history is evident in pivotal moments such as the 1964 mutiny, which prompted a reshaping of civil-military relations and an upswing in military recruitment.

These promotions extend beyond routine military progression; they symbolize the UPDF’s ongoing transformation and modernization. The Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, in collaboration with the UPDF fraternity, extend their congratulations to the promoted officers for their well-deserved achievements.

This event stands as a testament to the UPDF’s steadfast commitment to professionalism and excellence, recognizing the dedication and service of its members.
