President Yoweri Museveni, holding two roles of head of state and commander-in-chief of the armed forces, has done a series of noteworthy promotions within the Special Forces Command (SFC), a pivotal component of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF).
According to an official statement from the Ministry of Defense and UPDF, the seasoned military officer, Col Allan Matsiko, who previously served as the SFC director for intelligence, has undertaken a strategic shift in leadership by assuming the role of the 303 brigade commander.
In a concurrent move, Col JB Asinguza, a distinguished figure in the armed forces, has been appointed as the new commander of Special Forces Group One, seamlessly integrating responsibilities while concurrently serving as the Director of Training within the SFC.
Under the explicit directive of the Commander-in-Chief, Lt Col Bagonza has been deservedly elevated to the rank of Colonel, concurrently taking on the role of the commander of Special Forces Group Two. This underscores the Commander-in-Chief’s emphasis on adept leadership within the specialized units.
Meanwhile, Lt Col Duncan Kafeero, maintaining his steadfast role, retains the position of Deputy Director, contributing to the cohesive functioning of the Special Forces Command.
It is crucial to note that the Special Forces Command (SFC) stands as an elite unit within the UPDF, meticulously tasked with ensuring the security and protection of the President of Uganda and the esteemed members of the first family.
