Former Intelligence chief, Gen David Sejusa, disclosed his encounter with Taban Amin, the late former President of Uganda Idi Amin’s son, during a discussion on the issues surrounding NUP and Mathias Mpuuga.

One of Sejusa’s supporters asserted that National Unity Platform (NUP) possesses resilience and differs from the NRM. In response, the General noted that the NUP president isn’t renowned for combating corruption with utmost vigor.

Reflecting on Amin’s era, characterized by summary executions of alleged thieves without due process, Sejusa emphasized the importance of resolving matters through committees—a practice NUP has yet to adopt.

Another supporter highlighted Amin’s accomplishments within his eight-year tenure, juxtaposing them with the NRM’s performance, despite the latter benefiting from substantial international support.

As a veteran of the 1986 bush war, Sejusa refrained from extensive debates about Amin, acknowledging that he was a product of his era. However, he hinted at a reckoning for those nostalgic for Amin’s rule.

Amidst assertions praising Amin’s presidency, Sejusa recounted Amin’s firmness, recounting an incident where he was incarcerated following a confrontation with Taban Amin.

Read his statement below;

“Just shut-up! What do you know about Amin? I did my Secondary education under him. Did my High school under him. Completed my University under him. Addressed him TWICE as Student Leader. Was detained twice under him. Fought with his son(Taban) in Mitchell Hall. NEED NO KADOGO’s LECTURE!.”

The reason for this fight was that Taban had taken over Mitchell Wardens Flat and made it his accommodation. When other students told him he couldn’t do this, he paid a deaf ear and a fight ensued.

There was chaos all over Makerere University as his dad’s jeeps flooded the campus. Eventually, Taban was withdrawn from the University.
