The eldest daughter of Cecilia Ogwal, Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal (PhD), has been unanimously nominated by the family to vie for the Dokolo Woman MP position, as disclosed by a credible insider.
Acknowledging the imperative role of parliamentary representation in realizing Cecilia Ogwal’s unfinished endeavors, the family underscored the necessity of perpetuating the charitable endeavors initiated by the late Cecilia Ogwal. It was consensually agreed that a family member closely associated with her should step up to carry on her legacy.
“Following extensive deliberations, a unanimous decision was reached to champion Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal as the frontrunner for the Dokolo Woman MP candidacy,” disclosed the informant.
The funeral rites for Cecilia Ogwal, who breathed her last on January 18 in India, were solemnized on Saturday, January 27, in Alito, Kole district. The resolve to endorse Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal was further fortified by a delegation of constituents from over 60 parishes in Dokolo district. This delegation, paying their respects post the interment, voiced their fervent aspiration for Dr. Rosemary Ogwal to perpetuate the legacy of her late mother.
They spotlighted ongoing ecclesiastical, educational, livelihood, and infrastructural undertakings that were imperiled following Cecilia’s demise. Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal’s scholastic journey includes her formative years at Mt St Mary’s Namagunga from S1 to S6. Subsequently, she pursued her undergraduate studies in Law in the UK, followed by a Master’s and PhD in Economics. Her professional trajectory has been entrenched in the field of economics.
In compliance with electoral statutes, bye-elections are anticipated to be conducted within 60 days subsequent to Parliament declaring a seat vacant. Dr. Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal’s candidacy has garnered substantial attention, not only from her kin but also from the broader community, who perceive her as a competent inheritor of her mother’s impactful legacy.
