SAD!! Doreen Nyanjura’s Brother Shot Dead In Ntinda Mobile Money Raid – Details Emerge

The brother of Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor Doreen Nyanjura has been shot dead in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb, by unknown gunmen.

Ms Nyanjura said Albert Cook Tugume, who operated a mobile money shop, was shot dead by in what appears to have been armed robbery on Thursday evening.

The tragic incident occurred near Fraine Supermarket in Ntinda-Kigoowa.

The assailants fled with an unspecified amount of money.

Ms Nyanjura first posted on X, formerly Twitter, that Tugume had been abducted at gunpoint. The 8.42pm post said one person had been shot dead.

At 8.57pm, however, she broke the tragic news – it was her brother shot dead.

According to eyewitnesses, unknown gunmen ambushed Tugume in Ntinda, where shots were fired, resulting in his untimely death.

Authorities are yet to confirm details of the robbery and the subsequent investigation into the assailants.

In a heartfelt statement, Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs Balaam Ateenyi expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.

Minister Balaam has called on law enforcement agencies to act swiftly in bringing the culprits to justice.

“My heart goes out to the family and loved ones of the innocent hustler tragically taken from us. It’s devastating to see lives lost to senseless violence. Where is our world headed?.We must collectively condemn gun violence and criminality, working towards a safer society,” he added.

The minister further expressed his sympathies to Doreen Nyanjura for losing her brother.

“May the deceased’s soul rest in peace and may their legacy of hard work and resilience inspire us to create positive change. My sister Doreen Nyanjura sorry for losing your beloved brother in this tragedy incidence. Let’s unite against violence and protect our communities,” he said.
