The State House has moved swiftly to dispel circulating rumors suggesting a widespread reshuffling of Regional District Commissioners (RDCs) following recent changes in cabinet and military leadership. Addressing the issue, the Deputy Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Mr. Kirunda Faruk, denounced the reports as false and urged the public to treat them with skepticism.

In a statement released on Saturday evening, Mr. Kirunda emphasized that there had been no such reshuffle of RDCs by the President, dismissing the claims as fake news. He urged the public to disregard any unofficial lists circulating online, reaffirming that any official reshuffling would be communicated through proper channels.

“Please, disregard the fake list intended to excite and cause panic in public,” Mr. Kirunda reiterated.

The speculation about RDC reshuffling surfaced shortly after a group of former RDCs voiced concerns over their employment status, urging the appointing authority to either provide them with new roles or compensate them accordingly. Led by former JINJA RDC Erik Sakwa, the group highlighted financial hardships and accused the authorities of neglect.

“I haven’t worked for three years and I need compensation. I was reappointed to Kaliro district, and all news outlets painted me as dishonest. When I went to the office for my appointment letter, it was withheld,” Sakwa expressed during a televised interview on March 12, underscoring the need for compensation for their service.

The State House’s clarification aims to quell misinformation and reassure the public amidst swirling speculations about administrative changes within the government.
