Police In Namugongo are investigating an incident where a suspect was arrested for allegedly impersonating a senior police officer.
According to the reports given by the police, the suspect who has been identified as 23-year-old Mugume Langston was arrested by Police officers after visiting a police station with a toy pistol.Speaking about this incident, this is what the police had to say.
@Patrickonyango1 “Mugume Langton, a 23-year-old resident of Namugongo, was arrested at Kitintale Police Station on October 23, 2024, for impersonating a police officer. He falsely claimed to be an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) attached to the Crime Intelligence Directorate and was found with a toy pistol.
Langton had visited the station to inquire about a motorcycle theft suspect in custody. Following his arrest, he was charged with personation and is currently being held for further investigation to determine if he’s linked to other crimes and uncover his motives.
Taking to their different social media platforms to speak on this, Ugandans have called upon the Police to conduct an investigation in order to establish whether or not the suspect is of sound mind adding that he might be mentally sick.
